A week after the extensive shoreline and area clean up of West Lake, I am writing to express gratitude to all the people who volunteered their time to pick garbage on such a rainy day, and to Pacific Western Brewery, which generously sponsored the clean up and celebratory dinner.

As one of the most-highly frequented area lakes, and, even with conscientious visitors, we do tend to accumulate a lot of garbage, which does not bode well for local ecosystems.

In an effort to make the public more aware of their impact, PWB also provided signs to mark the bird sanctuary, which is directly across the lake from the provincial park, and also to draw attention to the impact of litter.

Thanks everyone!
