Time to look to the future

I do not understand why we would "preserve" the PG Hotel. I have been informed that it has a wooden foundation and would require repairs and upgrades into the millions to bring it up to something decent.

I do not understand why we would "preserve" the PG Hotel. I have been informed that it has a wooden foundation and would require repairs and upgrades into the millions to bring it up to something decent. After that it would not be a "historic building" any more because historic buildings are to be preserved as they are.

We have been talking about down town revitalization for more that 25 years and we can now smell some changes happening. Well, then let us do it. Let us look into the future, get rid of the old building and build something new instead, including the whole block opposite the Ramada Hotel. ]

Bold steps and decisions are required to make things happening, not by 2050 but now.

There is no independent study required, nor is it necessary to get a consultant's report from the Lower Mainland. I am glad to hear that the "destruction" of the PG Hotel is to begin on Sept. 12. So, please continue and have the lot clean and ready for something different before the snow comes.
