This week is my mine and my husband's ninth anniversary.
When you first get married, you think that you will never forget this date and you'll never forget to celebrate your anniversary.
So far, since we've been married, we collectively have forgotten our anniversary four times.
Not so this year by the grace of my parents who gave us an early anniversary present that we are extremely excited about: season passes to Theatre Northwest.
When I was a university student at UNBC 15 years ago, Theatre Northwest offered stand-by theatre tickets to university students for the low, low price of $20 for four shows.
This was an unbelievable price for professional theatre for broke university students.
When my husband and I were still dating, I snagged an extra ticket from my friend and I took him to see On Golden Pond and it was absolutely lovely.
Since we've moved to Prince George, we have gone periodically to see shows at TNW when we had the time, money or weren't currently caring for a newborn.
Now, in the future, we have four date nights planned - with babysitting.Four!
There is nothing better than watching live theatre.
The first theatre production I saw was the Kelly Road Secondary School production of Annie Get Your Gun and I couldn't believe how great it was.It was like a book being read to me with real-live people.
I still have that sense of amazement when I watch theatre.
I think that one of the reasons that I stayed in high school drama was the field trips to the theatre because it certainly was not my acting ability.
Luckily, I married an actor who had a number of acting friends and during the time we lived in Victoria, we would regularly get tickets for shows and spent many hours in the Fringe Festival watching our friends' shows and going to the after-parties.
We miss those days mightily and we're pleased to be hopefully starting a new tradition of seasons passes to the theatre with a guaranteed four date nights.
My decision to enroll in a co-op term at UNBC in Barkerville led to where I am now: married to my best friend, with two beautiful children, and one bad, old dog living in a great house in my hometown.
And now, there's theatre, too.
