On Saturday, March 19 at about noon, I was crossing 15th Avenue at Spruce Street. I was in a pedestrian-activated crosswalk with the light to walk. I was struck from behind by a pick-up truck that was making a left hand turn.
The sound of the truck hitting me was horrendous. I thought I was dead. I was knocked about 10 feet along the pavement. The first person to come to me was the driver of the pickup, then the woman who said she was a life guard, then a nurse, then several other people comforting me before the ambulance and police arrived.
Thank you all for your kind deeds and actions and also to the staff in emergency.
I am angry. Fifteen months ago, my 79 year old neighbour was struck and killed by a vehicle at 10th Avenue and Winnipeg street. Four times since then I have been stranded in the middle of either Victoria or Winnipeg Streets at an intersection.
