In response to Eric Thompson's letter to the editor Why Fly the Flag?, I offer my thanks for opening the dialogue on this controversial subject.

I too have asked the same question but my fear of being psychologically and intellectually bullied silenced me. It is ironic that it takes a man in a wheelchair to 'stand up' and ask a very obvious question... Why fly the flag?.

So I wade in with my humble opinion and remind city hall that it is a public building and should remain a neutral territory. The only symbols used should represent the totality of Prince George citizens such as the Canadian and provincial flags. We should, however, personally recognize all members of our society by being compassionate and understanding whether it be about race, religion, or any other practice that operates within the bounds of the law.
