City council has made a major regressive, short sighted and disappointing decision in voting to reintroduce downtown parking meters.
I feel sorry for the innovative downtown merchants who are trying to attract patrons to the downtown core. Now they have to put up with the intrusive nuisance of parking meters.
Downtown shopping is usually a destination trip. Are you going to pay $1 to spend 10 minutes picking up a loaf of bread?
Are you going to have lunch downtown then do some clothes shopping while worrying about feeding a parking meter?
How does this contribute to downtown revitalization? It takes more than hanging baskets and banners to make our city core one to be proud of. Parking meters are a regressive measure.
Please rethink this one Mayor Green and council.
