Our experience began on June 25 at 2:30 a.m. when I called 911 because my husband became very ill after an earlier surgery.
Emergency services were very quick to respond and my husband soon found himself undergoing emergency surgery.
After some time in the ICU, he was moved through different units until six long weeks later he was able to return home.
It was an emotional roller coaster for all of us, but he wouldn't be home today without the compassionate care, knowledge and understanding of all the doctors, nurses, LPNs, respiratory therapists, physiotherapists and the ICU social worker.
Everyone played such an important part in his recovery and we want to especially thank the nurses in ICU for their patience in answering our many questions and explaining what every light, beep and number on the many monitors meant at the beginning of our ordeal.
University Hospital of Northern B.C., thank you for the great care.
