During several meetings with concerned residents in the Highland area and the partners preparing to occupy the old Highland elementary school, it was stated that the building would be a community centre, tennis courts would stay and if interest was there a skating rink could be maintained in that area.
One evening last week approximately 17 children spent a very enjoyable four hours playing ball hockey in the tennis court area. So it came as a big surprise when they arrived home from school the next day to find everything torn down to make room for parking. There was no notice to the residents or input from them.
What a shame that the one item to be left at Highland for the "community" is gone. It made way for "corporate" parking.
