Tax increase an investment in city

When my copy of today's P.G. Citizen arrived, I turned to the editorial page - my favourite. I so appreciate the views Neil Godbout offers whether I agree with them or not.

When my copy of today's P.G. Citizen arrived, I turned to the editorial page - my favourite. I so appreciate the views Neil Godbout offers whether I agree with them or not. I also appreciate the letters to the editor because they give me a sense of the wonderful diversity within our community.

Today I was prompted to challenge Rick Cook's letter entitled "thanks for the tax grab." I do not consider the proposed tax increase a "grab."

For the average homeowner, this increase amounts to approximately 19 cents a day - a coffee at one of our local popular outlets costs way more than that.

I am so very grateful to live in this community and to have a local government that works diligently on our behalf no matter where they are in the world when a decision is necessary.

For 19 cents a day I am getting a deal.

Challenge to the P.G. Citizen staff - why not present the budget increases in a way that helps us see that the cost of living is increasing yet the increase is easily managed - what in our world costs 19 cents a day? Is our city's well being worth 19 cents?

Far more than that I say!
