There is and has been a lot of discussions regarding the Enbridge pipeline proposal to send
bitumen to the West Coast to be exported by tankers. I am against this project as it is too much
of a costly risk to our environment and coastline.
Once in a while we hear about the impending arrival of debris from the Japanese earthquake
which I understand is expected to land on our shorelines. I am wondering if this debris would
be a problem for the tankers to maneuver around or through them. Also, I wonder if the debris
would hinder the cleanup of the bitumen when, not if, a spill occurs. I guess the experts will
have this all figured out.
