Last week in the college schedule it is called reading week. I was in college when the first semester break in February was instituted. This week away from studies and the stress of schooling was initiated as a result of studies showing that in February there was a definite increase in suicidal deaths among post secondary students.
That being stated I am dismayed and actually quite bewildered at the amount of homework/ assignments that are pilled upon the students during "reading week" by their instructors, adding to the already documented stress that students face this time of year. I guess it must be because that's what their instructors did to them, and they don't really understand the reason for this "suicide prevention week".
My message is "professors and lecturers for CNC and UNBC to get educated" as to why the students are not in class during reading week.
