Thank you, Omar Khadr.
I was going to go off on a tirade on what you have done but I realize you are not the problem. To be honest I would be writing this if any party were governing. What our government has done is a real disservice to Canadians. On this matter, this government does not speak for me or a good percentage of Canadians.
The government tries to weasel out of giving our troops the income tax break that they deserve for being in combat zones, then give Omar Khadr $10 million.
Our troops come home with arms and legs missing and PTSD and they have to fight for ever thing they need, to get back to a regular life as possible, then the government gives Omar Khadr $10 million.
Robert Hall and John Ridsdel were kidnapped by terrorists but the government would not pay the $8.1 million ransom because Canada does not negotiate with terrorists. They were beheaded.
I'm so sorry for the families of these two gentlemen, but then the government gives Omar Khadr $10 million.
Did the government apologize to these two families? We have court cases being thrown out because the justice system takes to long to bring these cases to trial of murder and rape charges. Our government can quietly give Omar Khadr $10 million a week before the lawyers of Christopher Speer's wife can have their court date to stop payment until their case could be heard in Canada.
He will not pay income tax on this tax settlement.
If Omar Khadr had committed this bombing in Canada, he would have been sentenced to a life in prison with no parole for 25 years.
Way to go, Government of Canada. You really stepped up for your citizens this time.
Chad Johnson,
Prince George
