Terry Teegee, wow did you ever smack Nathan Giede for expressing his point of view.
You chided him for his use of position to express his opinion.
You told us how Canada is such a terrible country, how Canadians have done everything wrong for at least 150 years.
Where else would you have Common Law to protect your rights?
Then you told us that residential schools were to blame for most of the problems with native people in Canada.
All of the problems in Canada's native people can be traced to the Canadian peoples anglo superiority attitude, residential schools, sports teams, or Nathan Giede.
Did you know that Nathan is one of an identifiable minority? And a right-of-centre journalist! There aren't many of them.
You complained that Nathan used The Citizen as his platform to express his opinion. Which platform did you use to express your opinion?
The Citizen gave you a platform that is the best in the central interior. Its subscribers and advertisers pay to keep this great free speech message board for your convenience.
I'm very glad we do because your right to free speech is the same one Nathan used.
Anglo superiority attitude? Russia explored the coast of B.C. and traded here in the 1700s. If they had occupied B.C. you wouldn't need to complain about anglo superiority attitude.
If England had not occupied Canada someone else would have. Who would you rather deal with?
My mother went to what they called a convent school.
Her and her lifelong friends were very happy to escape the drudgery and boredom of their homestead life.
She had threee brothers who didn't go to residential school because the family couldn't afford the extra cost of the tuition. I have read columns where aboriginals who say that residential school experience was not as black as it is described.
Others say they had the same experience as my mother and her friends. So enough shame blaming!
I am grateful for the education I have.
Would you be literate if it were not for residential schools that your forefathers attended? Residential schools are from an other time when Canada felt that an education was the only way to have aboriginal people transition from stone age hunters to the modern world.
Not a perfect solution but the best one that was available.
Would you write an article describing how you would have dealt with the literacy problem of aboriginals in Canada in the early 1900s?
Sports teams. My ancestry is Scandinavian and English. Should I be offended by Vikings, Raiders, Pirates or Buccaneers? How about a Giant or a Midget or a Millionaire?
If you need to be offended by the name of a sports team, you are really searching.
This is my decision. Happiness is a decision. The culture of victimhood is a decision.
Aboriginals don't have the right to shame blame me.
I have not contributed to their unhappiness or victimhood.
We need to reform the way Canada deals with native issues. Pierre Trudeau attempted to reform Indian Act laws in 1969. Is it time for Justin to finish that job?
These zombie laws, Indian reserves and special status need to be changed. They give racial based favoritism to some Canadians.
Instead of special status, we need equal status for all.
