It is not my intention to dispute the city's authority to set speed limits, only their judgment.
During January 2014, city personal deemed 70 km/h to be unsafe and reduced the posted speed to 50 km/h.
Referring to a document titled Canadian Guidelines for Establishing Posted Speed Limits two facts have been addressed.
It is acknowledged the majority of responsible drivers travel at speeds deemed to be sensible and those thought to be too low will ignored.
This point has been made extremely clear by the concentrated number of speeding tickets issued to date.
The second observation is the unrealistic reduced speed results in traffic line ups.
The consequence will have drivers implementing dangerous passing maneuvers.
Please use some common sense and return the limit to 70 km/h before an unwarranted accident happens.
