Song of the Day

Song

I had a bit of a take-me-to-church moment Sunday night. Granted, listening to the Strombo Show on CBC Radio 2 is always a near-religious experience, but this week's episode was extra good due to the focus on The Clash and the 35th anniversary of their third album London Calling.

It reminded me that I haven't listened to that album for years and there are some seriously amazing songs outside of the title track that I need to revisit.

But in between the familiar sounds of The Clash came music I had never heard before and what I think is going to be my new theme song: I want To Be Evil, by Eartha Kitt.

The track appeared on Kitt's 1953 record That Bad Eartha and tells the tale of a woman who wants to throw caution to the wind, with lyrics like "And in the theatre I want to change my seat/just so I can step on everybody's feet."
