In this time of excess where it might be all about the biggest and brightest, latest, most cutting edge do-hickey, it's kind of nice to be at the stage in my life where I don't want a thing. I don't need a thing, and I certainly don't covet others' things.
For me it's all about my grandchildren and they instantly put it all in perspective for me. I love to give, especially if it's some treasure that I just know deep in my heart will be well used, well loved and well appreciated. There's nothing sweeter than when those little arms are wrapped around my neck and I look into that tiny face and it's full of glee!
That's when the mission is accomplished for me at Christmas and, of course, when all their little bellies are full of their favourite things. I am German after all and everyone knows that true love is ultimately expressed through well fed kidlets!
So give me some snow, a whole lot of little tids running around me, and I am good to go.
To that end, I'm taking it classic this week with Bing Crosby's White Christmas. Enjoy:
