Song of the Day

Halloween is over, and all that is left over is all that candy that you bought because you wanted to be prepared in case there were a lot of trick-or-treaters this year.

Halloween is over, and all that is left over is all that candy that you bought because you wanted to be prepared in case there were a lot of trick-or-treaters this year.

Halloween, especially when it falls on a weekend, is the one annual opportunity for grown-ups to play dress-up and cut loose without looking like weirdoes. Which likely means there were some people who had some regrets, and some apologies to make, on Saturday morning.

For others, there is the "I can't believe I ate so much candy - is it possible to gain 10 pounds in pure sugar overnight?" kind of regrets.

So today's songs are a double bill of 100 per cent calorie-free musical confections.

For an appetizer, there is Katy Perry's bubble-gum pop hit This is How We Do. It's an ironic, cynical tribute to living it up, perfect for those who maybe cut a little too loose on Friday and need a little help laughing it off.

The official music video, online here: http://youtu.be/7RMQksXpQSk, features plenty of kitschy imagery and cartoon fun. This is How We Do is a single off Perry's fourth album Prism, released in October 2013. It was issued as a single in August of this year.

Second on the menu is Megan Trainor's body-positive hit single, All About That Bass, released in June ahead of her upcoming third album, Title.

Even if you had to reach to the back of your closet for your fat pants after this weekend, this doo-woopy, upbeat song about loving the body you're in will have you smiling.
