Song of the Day

There are few songs that are more distracting than Hell Broke Luce by Tom Waits. It's the exact opposite of background music. Whenever it comes on the playlist shuffle, I have to focus on it.

There are few songs that are more distracting than Hell Broke Luce by Tom Waits.

It's the exact opposite of background music. Whenever it comes on the playlist shuffle, I have to focus on it.

It's an aggressive military-themed track with lyrics that are simultaneously nonsensical and linear (depending on how closely you're listening), and a commanding beat.

Today, I'm taking off for my long-awaited sojourn to take in a couple of Linkin Park concerts.

One of the most memorable experiences I've had at one of their shows came in 2008 when the band headlined Edgefest in Toronto.

If there's anywhere that all hell can break loose, it's at a rock show. And after a full day of July sun, intermittent downpours and beer gardens, the crowd was more than a little rowdy by the time LP took the stage.

My position at the front of the crowd, right at the barricade, meant there was nowhere to go when the thousands of people behind me began surging forward, mosh circles formed, and individuals took up crowdsurfing.

A pit is a strange environment (I may have been seconds away from getting into a fight myself) and I wore the bruises I walked out of there with like badges of honour.
