I can't resist a good Marvel Studios movie (or movie made from a Marvel Comics franchise), so I was eager to take in the new Guardians of the Galaxy film Friday night.
One of the movie's key elements is its use of music, and thanks to Peter Quill's (played by the perfectly cast Chris Pratt) connection to an old mix tape, the soundtrack is an amazing string of '70s tunes.
I thought about drawing a parallel between the songs from Star Lord's childhood and my own, but it's a lost cause because thanks to that movie, I've had Blue Swede's 1973 cover of Hooked on a Feeling buzzing through my head for the past five days.
The song is seeing a resurgence that hasn't been this big since Ally McBeal and a dancing baby brought it back into the mainstream. So thanks, Guardians of the Galaxy. Thanks a lot. It's going to be weeks before I get rid of this ear worm.
