I grew up in Ontario, just north of Toronto, and I always felt I had the best of both worlds.
I lived on a 10-acre farm where we grew vegetables and raised a variety of fowl like chickens, geese, pheasants and a duck - yup, just one.
She was a stray from the farm two properties away. We tried to give her back over and over again but she just kept coming back so the neighbour said to keep her. I think Waddles knew she was safe from the chopping block at our house. She ruled the roost, I'll tell 'ya. It was fun to watch!
So there I was living in a rural setting with Toronto just 90 minutes away. In between the farm and the big city was Canada's Wonderland, and what a wonder it was. Brace yourself because you're never going to believe this one: with the price of admission into the amusement park one fine summer day back in the early '80s was an Eric Clapton concert. I know, right?!? It was basically free and I have to say, it was a small venue, too. I was so close I could see Clapton's well-groomed nails as his fingers flew over the guitar strings like he was born to it. It was a good time to be alive, my friends. So here's my pick, Eric Clapton's Layla: http://youtu.be/fX5USg8_1gA.
