You're not going to hear me complaining about the current heat wave. Not when there's so much winter we have to contend with in Prince George.
Having spent so much time in southern and eastern Ontario, I'm pretty well versed in hot summers. So it tickles me a little to hear people complaining about the humidity here over the past few days.
If you want humidity, travel to Toronto in August and step into the city centre. After my first year in Prince George, I did just that - and nearly hyperventilated. It's amazing how quickly one forgets how stifling that (lack of) air can be.
In honour of that experience, my song for today is Berlin's Take My Breath Away, the Academy Award-winning ballad from the 1986 film Top Gun.
Sure, it has nothing to do with wheezing due to humidity, but I'm sure if you lose air pressure in a fighter jet it might be the same experience as stepping outside Union Station into a humidex of 45 C.
