I decided to do something different this week and go hyper local.
They're still working on their debut album, but Prince George's Bright City Heights will be ones to watch.
You can already hear them on 101.3 The River after singer and songwriter Lee-Wai Yu took home the station's inaugural Voice crown, a singing competition held in March.
Yu beat out nine other finalists and scored his band studio time to record My Dear and Ivory, which are both in The River's rotation now.
The indie rock/pop progression of My Dear is simultaneously ethereal and down to Earth, providing a soundtrack that makes you want to sit with friends around the campfire or just as easily strike out on your own to explore new surroundings.
You can hear My Dear online at brightcityheights.bandcamp.com or go see Bright City Heights when they play Nancy O's on June 6.
