Pharrell Williams, who is set to be one of the judges on The Voice next season, has a megahit song, Happy, the quintessential bee bop song.
It makes you smile to hear the perky opening notes and the somewhat obtuse lyrics make it that much better.
When singing Happy, I feel I must adapt my linguistic skills to channel my mother's German accent, so in my head I sing 'I'm Heppeeeee' as I smile like the dumb blonde I truly am.
As my daughter, Mackenzie, would say, the song's lyrics are open to speculation similar to that of, say, an interpretive dance.
And boy howdy, is there a lot of interpretively joyful dancing in this video.
Further interpretive skills are needed to explain a few of the lyrics that I personally find intriguing, like 'clap along if you feel like a room without a roof-ah', I know it doesn't say roof-ah but Pharrell sings it like that so I'm sticking with it-ah.
I think what he means is 'clap along if you feel like the sky's the limit'. Are ya' smelling what I'm cookin'? Yes, no?
Well, that's how I feel about it and the video is a must see because all those awesomely mobile people with their funky dance moves will make you Heppeeeee, too!
