Today's song of the day is a little different than my usual picks.
Recently the excellent Sharpe series was released in a DVD box set in North America. The series of British made-for-TV movies follows the adventures of rifle officer Richard Sharpe through the Napoleonic Wars. The movies are based on the even-better series of novels by Bernard Cornwell.
English folk singer John Tams played poacher-turned-rifleman Dan Hagman, and provided several songs for the films' soundtracks including a haunting version of the traditional English folk song Over the Hills and Far Away.
