Probably nothing has inspired more songs than romantic love -the ecstatic highs, heartbreaking lows and the lengths people will go for love.
Perhaps the lowest of low places is finding out your loved one has a cheating heart.
But some ways of handling a partner's infidelity are better than others.
When Poison frontman Bret Michaels discovered his girlfriend was cheating on him while he was on the road, he sat down and turned his heartache into the band's biggest hit: Every Rose Has Its Thorn.
The original studio version of the 1988 power ballad, from the band's Open Up and Say... Ahh! album, sounds as good today as it did 26 years ago. Over the years Poison has released a live version, solo version, unplugged version and country version. And last year Michaels and Loretta Lynn teamed up for a country duet version.
Even Miley Cyrus did a cover in 2010 before she started licking sledgehammers and riding wrecking balls.
But nothing beats the original. Watch the music video online here: http://youtu.be/c56vEgA4fjU or by scanning this page with Layar.
