Song of the Day

Listening to the local radio stations can often be an annoying experience: there is the inane DJ chatter, endless commercials and repetitive playlists.

It is much easier to plug in your MP3 player, or tune in a digital radio station, and hear exactly what you want to hear.

But the joy of radio is being surprised by a song you didn't know you wanted to hear - or one that just speaks to you in that particular moment.

It might be a new song in a genre you wouldn't normally be interested in, or an old song you had forgotten about.

On Thursday, scanning between radio stations on a short drive, I had that moment. The song was The Boy Inside the Man, by Tom Cochrane and Red Rider. The track comes from the band's 1986 self-titled album.

It's a classic rock n' roll anthem about keeping the dreams and ambitions of youth alive as we get older. Watch the video online here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXY9wANQIsY or by scanning this page with Layar.
