Home - ask a dozen people to give their definition and chances are you'll get a dozen different answers. A home can be anywhere or anything a person finds comfort, inspiration or just a place to sleep. Some people call one city home their whole life, while others prefer to move around, changing addresses every few years. I call Prince George home these days, but Winnipeg will always be home as in the place I was born and grew up. Today, with my gas tank as full as my coffee mug, I hit the road for a short visit to Winnipeg to see family and friends, and enjoy delicious Jeannie's Bakery birthday cake and my favourite pizza from the aptly named Pizza Place. After a considerable effort, and pleading, I've also managed to secure tickets to my first NHL Jets game since April 1996 - the home opener between the Jets and Los Angeles Kings. In honour of my trip home, I thought it would be appropriate for today's song to come from a Winnipeg band - The Weakerthans, One Great City is about a love/hate relationship with the city. Here's a link to a concert The Weakerthans gave in 2010 at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEWTWA9zmXM.
