My dad is up from the island for a visit this week to spend some time with his first granddaughter (and only grandchild). I suppose he's also up to see my wife and me, but who am I kidding - grandchildren trump parents every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
We were chatting this morning while my daughter was crawling around and we got on the topic of classic CBC children's programming, specifically Fraggle Rock and The Raccoon's. Both of those shows were my favourite growing up and we both mentioned how great it would be if the CBC would air them again.
Fortunately, it is Fraggle Rock's 30 anniversary and to celebrate they are releasing a collection of the entire series on DVD so I'll be able to pick that up to share with my daughter. The same can not be said for The Raccoon's - for some reason they have never been released on DVD, other than a couple of themed-episode DVDs, so getting a full collection is next to impossible.
Luckily sites like Youtube can keep shows like The Raccoon's alive, if even just a little bit. So my song of the day is Run With Us by Lisa Lougheed, which was the theme song to The Raccoon's.
