I'm not a big rap fan, never have been. But over the last few years I have listened to a bit more than usual.
Sometimes while I am driving, depending on my mood, I may like to listen to faster dance music, sometimes on longer trips ballads are better, as I can sing along to help keep me awake. It works better if there is no-one else in the vehicle that has to be subjected to my cat screams.
Then there are times when I just want to plod around, relaxed, one arm out the window, the other on the top of the wheel in that couldn't-care-less state.
It is also hard to find tunes that go along with this state of mind. Then two weeks ago, I can't remember where I heard it, but on came Dr. Dre and his bean-pole, weed-smoking friend Snoop Dogg. The tune, - Still D.R.E. - had a nice casual sound to it. Someone in the background is constantly strumming two notes on what sounds like a ukkalele. You'd think something like that would be really annoying in a really short time, but it's not.
Then the drums kick in and Dr. Dre starts rapping in his deep voice with Mr. D O double G adding some higher vibes in the background from time to time.
Haven't a clue what they are singing about, but the tune is perfect for plodding around in the car, arm out the window with the other hand on the top of the steering wheel. Try not nodding your head while listening to this tune.
