This weekend, the big Hollywood news was the sudden death of actor Paul Walker, best known for his roles in the Fast and Furious film franchise. I was just wrapping up Grade 9 when the first movie came out in June, 2001 and I remember talk of the movie, fast cars and Walker's baby blues were topics of conversation amongst classmates through the summer and well into the next school year. If there's a song that can immediately take me back to that time it's It Wasn't Me, by Shaggy. That song marked the beginning of a strange period where the music that was listened to inside my West Indian household meshed with the popular singles on the radio.
