The long weekend is almost upon us, which means most folks will be in the mood for a little fun - and perhaps some loud music.
There's a band that's been around for a while now but I just recently discovered them for myself. They're called Dropkick Murphys and they're a Celtic punk outfit from Quincy, Mass.
Listening to Dropkick Murphys is the feeling of being in a packed Irish pub, surrounded on the dance floor by 300 of your closest friends. And the band on stage is so good, so full of pounding energy, you don't want the night to end.
Dropkick Murphys' latest CD is called Signed and Sealed in Blood. It was released in January and is full of hard-edged, infectious tunes. Think Great Big Sea and add a whole lot of attitude.
One of my favourite tracks on Signed and Sealed in Blood is the lead one, The Boys Are Back. This weekend, or sooner, give it a listen.
Fair warning - the higher the volume, the better.
