Song of the Day

Even if you're not particularly interested in the British monarchy, it was hard to escape the news of the birth of the future king of England yesterday. Personally, I'm not a big royal watcher, but I don't begrudge the monarchy.

Even if you're not particularly interested in the British monarchy, it was hard to escape the news of the birth of the future king of England yesterday.

Personally, I'm not a big royal watcher, but I don't begrudge the monarchy. Though Queen Elizabeth is on our money and in our passports, she doesn't actually have any real bearing on our daily lives in Canada. At the end of the day - in my humble opinion - the British royal family are just people, living their lives with the cards they've been dealt.

Either way, all of this talk made me immediately think of what's in my playlist that could possibly work to score this occasion and it came to my attention that I couldn't immediately think of any songs particularly praising the monarchy.

Plus, QEII has been on the throne for so long, that most contemporary songs refer to the Queen (see: Sex Pistols).

So with the delivery of the little prince, all I'm left with from my current music collection is an American band, named after a French king, who sing with British accents.

It's the Girl That Makes Him Sad is a track off of Louis XIV's 2004 EP Blue. Here the song here: http://youtu.be/NUx7IehW5Bk
