Song of the Day

Today marks a pretty big day for me as I cast my first ballot in a B.C. election. Even though I've lived in the province for nearly 17 years (cumulatively), I've been either too young or too new a resident prior to an election to be eligible to vote.

Today marks a pretty big day for me as I cast my first ballot in a B.C. election. Even though I've lived in the province for nearly 17 years (cumulatively), I've been either too young or too new a resident prior to an election to be eligible to vote. I even put off taking advantage of advance voting so I could get the full B.C. election day experience. Oddly enough, when I attempt put a soundtrack to politics, my brain automatically short circuits on anything contemporary or Canadian. My go-to is a 1960s song by Country Joe and The Fish protesting the Vietnam War. Maybe if they hadn't made it so catchy I wouldn't still be stuck on the song, years after being introduced to it in a documentary on the first Woodstock festival. Luckily, my choice today won't have the dire consequences that the American voting public had in the decades before I was born.
