Song of the Day

I'm a big fan of film director Baz Luhrmann. He's a true auteur and I think his visual style is one that's incredibly stunning, I don't care if his movies can run a little long (I'm looking at you, Australia).

I'm a big fan of film director Baz Luhrmann. He's a true auteur and I think his visual style is one that's incredibly stunning, I don't care if his movies can run a little long (I'm looking at you, Australia). One of Luhrmann's trademarks is using music anachronistically, which has spawned some pretty amazing covers. The song generating the most buzz from his upcoming film The Great Gatsby is a Beyonce and Andre 3000 cover of Amy Winehouse's Back to Black. Written by Winehouse about her on-off relationship with both the man who would become her ex-husband and her addiction to drugs and alcohol, the 2007 single evokes an emotion that Beyonce can't believably portray. So I'll stick with the original, which you can check out on YouTube here: http://youtu.be/TJAfLE39ZZ8
