It's been quite the week for Prince William and Kate, with the birth of their son George.
During my six-month stint in London back in the winter of 1990-91, I was fortunate enough to see the London Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Christopher Warren-Green, perform some minimalist works by Steve Reich, John Adams and Philip Glass.
Still under the direction of Warren-Green, the LCO performed at Will and Kate's wedding in 2011.
The LCO's performance of Facades is available on iTunes and it's even better than the version Glass released on the album Glassworks, which you can listen to here (http://youtu.be/Qxt1xv6FKpw).
On more than a few occasions, I swayed in the darkness, holding my baby daughter close to me in her room, listening to Facades to keep myself calm and relaxed, while gently urging her back to sleep. It's a soothing, tranquil hymn, perfect for all new parents and their infants.
