Song of the Day

It's that time of year again, where I get excited about The Voice. As far as television singing competitions go, it's the only one which manages to draw me back (at least until I get bored when it winds down to the final few).

It's that time of year again, where I get excited about The Voice. As far as television singing competitions go, it's the only one which manages to draw me back (at least until I get bored when it winds down to the final few).

I'm especially interested in this season, thanks to the inclusion of Tessanne Chin, a Jamaican singer the rest of the world now has a chance to experience. (See her audition here: http://youtu.be/RsqJZ_s3_78) Chin's best work as a solo artist melds traditional reggae with a rock vibe. Growing up in a West Indian household where rock music was something I had branch out to discover for myself, her style was like an oasis in the desert. My go-to Tessanne Chin song is her 2006 single Hideaway (http://youtu.be/Yc2ICoKJSPk), which perfectly demonstrates how perfectly the two genres fit together and how amazing Chin's huge voice is.
