Song of the Day

I'm a few months away from marking my third anniversary in Prince George and what I've come to realize is that's quite the benchmark. It seems that - especially for people my age - Prince George is a very transient town.

I'm a few months away from marking my third anniversary in Prince George and what I've come to realize is that's quite the benchmark.

It seems that - especially for people my age - Prince George is a very transient town. There's a lot of coming and going and new faces and goodbye parties.

It's kind of like summer camp, in that sense. You form relationships quickly and you immerse yourself in them as deeply as you can because, chances are, it's all going to come to an end and you have to cut ties when they or you inevitably move away to a new opportunity.

I think that's part of the reason why this city is so friendly - everyone is used to welcoming new people into their circle.

A member of my circle is on his way out, having "served his time" in the north. He was surprised to admit he was going to miss the city that he thought he couldn't wait to leave.

In his honour, my song for today is Michael Jackson's 1979 hit Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough. The song marked Jackson's official debut as a solo artist and is just funky enough to send off this motorcycle-riding, adventure-loving, barbecue wizard.
