Recently I was listening to the news and our premier was explaining that the reason that BC was being considered by many foreign investors for LNG and refineries and even tarsands pipelines was that BC offered a stable political environment and was backed by the rule of law.
It must have been reassuring for those who are considering the investment of perhaps billions of dollars that they heard the premier extoll the virtues of the rule of law and the sanctity of contracts except for the fact that it is not true.
If those investors saw the current teachers dispute and its roots in the illegal tearing up of binding contracts by the premier, they would and should reconsider committing those funds to BC and instead seek investments in jurisdictions that do respect contracts and Supreme Court rulings. Perhaps Russia or North Korea?
