Snow to blame

On Sunday, Jan 6th, I went shopping at the Hart Mall. I was wearing "snow cleats" on my boots which I removed before entering the store.

Replacing the cleats requires a place to sit, the only bench in the store was occupied, so I decided to leave them off and just walk carefully so not to fall.

Most of the sidewalk from the intersection at Austin Rd. E. and Hart Highway has literally "disappeared" for a least a month.

I had almost made my way to the Dagg Rd. intersection when my feet shot out from under me and I fell flat on my back onto the edge of the roadway, walking stick and grocery bag beside me.

While I was struggling to get up, a vehicle stopped beside me. The driver opened the door and asked me, "Are you alright?" After I spat out a mouthful of four-letter words, I managed to reply, "I guess so!" although my tail bone disagreed.

Fortunately, it wasn't my head that hit the ice.

This kind gentleman then said, "Get in, I'll drive you home." I accepted his offer.

To this gentleman, I wish here and now to thank him again for his kindness. I wish I'd had the presence of mind to ask his name.
