In response to the letter written by Bernie Schneider regarding drivers on the Hart Highway.
Mr. Schneider, you are telling us to stay in the right lane? Where do you drive?
When driving up the hart hill there are a few things to remember. There are two merge lanes coming into the highway. Coming off the Cameron Street bridge, entering the highway and getting into the left lane in order to make my left turn at the next light can be difficult at best because of the slow-moving trucks and all the people like you who choose to speed, and think you own the road.
The Hart highway is largely residential with many people making left turns and you can't turn left from the right lane. The Hart Highway is not a freeway.
Talking about signs, the one coming up the hill says slow traffic keep right, not keep right except to pass. They are two different things.
While we are on the subject of signs, there are speed limits of 60 km/h to the Husky then it is 70 km/h to well past the Hart shopping centre, all residential areas. Do you obey these signs? These signs are there for a reason.
There are far too many speeders on the Hart, maybe as you say the police could hand out a few tickets there. I'm sure it would be more productive.
According to you, everyone but you should get into and stay in the right lane for the speeders.
If I drive the posted speed, I have every right in the left lane. There is no lane made just for speeders and the Hart is not a racetrack.
As far as all the years of problems you've had, I suggest you slow down, drive the speed limit, have a little patience and courtesy for others, and keep your middle finger to yourself.
