Sign snafu speaks volumes

When I think about the opportunity that we have to see a new City Council after the Nov. 19 elections, I can't help but wonder what it will really look like.

When I think about the opportunity that we have to see a new City Council after the Nov. 19 elections, I can't help but wonder what it will really look like.

A lot of people are wanting to see a change; hoping for some new candidates to run our city with integrity and wisdom. As the campaign is starting, I notice that already we are seeing new candidates making a run for City Council who seem to lack integrity or wisdom.. . or possibly both.

I understand that campaign signs for municipal elections cannot be placed on provincial highways until after the nomination period is over. This means that two City Council hopefuls who placed their enormous signs along the provincial highways have either: neglected to research the actual rules or have simply disregarded them.

Either way, I know that I won't be able to vote for someone who doesn't do appropriate research on issues that are fairly significant, nor could I vote for someone who doesn't respect rules and regulations.

I hope others keep that in mind when going to the polls or we could end up in the same situation we are in now.
