Shear the flock

Tiberius, Roman emperor from Ad - 14 said it best, "It is the part of the good shepherd to shear his flock, not skin it". I have several questions for Councillor Basserman.

Tiberius, Roman emperor from Ad - 14 said it best, "It is the part of the good shepherd to shear his flock, not skin it".

I have several questions for Councillor Basserman. As a taxpayer that assists in paying for all the consultant fees the city administration racks up, why should I pay more for what should be public information? Is this a way to avoid responsibility for how our money is spent? Do you think the taxpayer is not smart enough to understand why the city uses consultants? Does it matter what level of government pays the bill as it ultimately comes from the taxpayer's pocket?

I sometimes wonder how elected officials arrive at their beliefs. As one of the flock of taxpayers being shorn I would like to think the learned councillor would not want my skin. Once a template to track consultant's fees has been created I would think plugging the appropriate numbers in would not be strenuous or time consuming. I leave it to councillor Basserman to explain why this is a waste of the administrations time. An informed public is undoubtedly your best friend not your worst enemy.
