Shaw not part of local Pride centre

I'm disappointed to see that your response to LGBTQ people is to write a new article about Travis Shaw and claim that the people who spoke out saying he was never part of our groups are simply whitewashing our history.

I'm disappointed to see that your response to LGBTQ people is to write a new article about Travis Shaw and claim that the people who spoke out saying he was never part of our groups are simply whitewashing our history.

I mentioned in my email and my comments that the Northern Pride Centre history is readily available. Other than a drag show performance after the centre was already established, Shaw was not a part of the centre. Talk to the volunteers, past board members, read our history to find out the truth instead of essentially saying we are liars.

If Shaw had been a part of our history, that would be our burden to bare, overcome, and heal. Our anger comes not only from someone perpetuating the LGBTQ stereotype myth but from our organizations and our hard work being associated with this even though it is false.

Do better.
