I share Mr. Thompson's frustration dealing with the regional district.
The bylaw officers tell me that there is really no point in issuing fines for offenders because there isn't any process currently available to make people accountable.
I suggested that the municipal model of adding fines to taxes might be a solution to the problem.
I'm told it's not within the regional district's mandate and that our elected MLA would have to push for legislative change.
Have you ever tried to talk directly with your MLA?
So it goes, round and round, if you live in the regional district you may be unfortunate enough to be near one of these properties. If so, take comfort in the fact that your tax dollars are going out to an administration that seems content to do nothing about the problem.
