If you are a follower of the Hell Yeah Prince George Facebook page, you will see many lovely posts from people who live in and love our fine city. The most frequent themes on the page are kindness, good service, beautiful photography, neat things to do around the city and goal setting.
It is with this in mind that I have been pondering my own goals for the next year.
In the midst of the Christmas chaos, the never-ending pile of laundry and wonderful time spent relaxing and playing with our family and friends, I have decided that my goals will be a lot less concrete this year.
Although anyone who is a righteous goal-setter will tell you that the most attainable goals are ones that are specific and have a timeline attached, I have decided that I don't care about what those people think.
My goals for the next year are as follows: 1) more kindness in my life, both giving and receiving 2) I would like to finish shopping and making gifts for next Christmas before December 2016 3) I want to see all there is to see in this city 4) I would like to print my photos that are currently living on my hard drive and 5) I would like my family and I to go on an adventure.
I have had a lovely Christmas vacation this year, thanks to a myriad of wonderful family and friends. I have gone sledding out my front door (my driveway to be precise) no less than six times since the snow first fell. I have had a snowball fight with my four-year old son, I watched my two-year old daughter go on a sled by herself for the first time, and I've enjoyed Bailey's and hot chocolate at a wiener roast while wearing the snow pants that I've owned since I was sixteen. Now although the snow pants are getting increasingly tight and it's starting to look like there is permafrost covering my hair, I have had a fairly good winter so far. We've bought each of the kids their own snow shovel and each time it snows, the whole family trucks out to the driveway to shovel followed by a brief sled down the hill. And even though our driveway is now particularly icy, you cannot beat the convenience of not having to get in a car and drive somewhere else to go sledding. At our house, when you get cold, you walk inside for some hot chocolate (and Bailey's, if you are of legal drinking age).
Happy New Year, Prince George!
May your next year be filled with joy and may your snow pants fit into the next season!
