It's gren but I see red.
Many readers of our local newspapers have seen the BC Liberal Government's green advertisement on funding for students. Each time I see the flashy, green-coloured ad, I don't see green, I see red. In The Citizen alone, one cost approximately $2500 a day. With the last four printings in Prince George only, this government has spent $10,000. With approximately 131 cities and towns that provide newspapers in B.C., imagine Christy Clark spending $1.3 million a week on this ad campaign.
If that isn't enough to make us all see red, here's more. The content of the ad is misleading and deceitful, and in turn, insulting to every taxpayer in the province. This government has an obsession for manipulating numbers, and this ad is no exception. The ad says 2,100 new teaching assistants have been hired since 2001. 2,100 new teaching assistants hired. Hired - then laid off in the next round of budget cuts. Hired - but not full time, not even three quarter time. Hired - for 12 to 20 hours a week.
This government is suggesting that educational assistants replace the desperately needed certified teachers. Education assistants are an invaluable resource, and the schools could not operate without them, but they are there to assist the teacher, not replace them. Let's not accept the Liberal Government's misuse of our tax dollars any more. Christy Clark and the Liberal Government, stop wasting my tax dollars on your propaganda campaign When I see those flashy green ads, I don't see green, I see red.
