Scooter riders should be respected

Scooters, Wheelchairs, Bicycles. Strollers and skateboards should not be used on the sidewalks. A skateboarder came up 4th Ave one time and knocked me and my scooter on it' side out into the traffic with an oncoming car that stopped in time.

Cops who hassle people with Scooters, Wheelchairs and Strollers. They don't have any insight as to the problems these people have. I ride a scooter on the road most of the time. The side walk sometimes has an on ramp but no off ramp. Side walks are very rough even the concrete ones. One sidewalk has a telephone pole in the middle it. There is an on ramp adjacent to it, but you cannot get past the pole. The sidewalk opposite the YMCA on Massey Drive is so rough that it is a tip over hazard, also the sidewalk from Patricia Bvld. To Fifth Ave. is worse. There are many more that are extremely rough. The smaller the wheels the rougher they are. Some sidewalks are on quite a slant towards the road and if you hit a bump you could easily tip over.

I was going down Patricia Blvd. one time near the Library facing the traffic, and a cop pulled me over and told me I was on the wrong side of the street. I was in the bicycle lane. He asked for my drivers license and phone number and eventually said he would get back to me, but he never did.

August 11, 2010 Tina Steppler wrote the editor and brings up a good point. August 13, 2010 Ella Leveque also gives another good point. I commend you both.

I would like one of Prince George's finest to ride my scooter for a day in civilian clothes I guarantee He or She would have a very different opinion of people who use the roads on scooters Etc.

Watch the drivers that come off of side roads through the crosswalk and turn right without stopping or looking to their right. I have had a number of close calls from these drivers two of them were Taxi's. I ride my scooter facing the traffic so I can see what is coming. Going with the traffic is too dangerous. You can't see an emergency approaching behind you.

Prince George needs some emergency repair work to the sidewalks and a number of the streets now.
