School provided more than an education

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter of thank you. Eight years ago I moved from Vancouver to attend UNBC. Bringing my young daughter with me was a huge step especially because we did not know anyone in Prince George.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter of thank you.

Eight years ago I moved from Vancouver to attend UNBC. Bringing my young daughter with me was a huge step especially because we did not know anyone in Prince George. I was scared and anxious at the prospect of starting all over again. As a Catholic, I knew that I wanted my daughter to attend a Catholic school. I registered her at St. Mary's. She was a shy little girl and of course like most parents with kids starting kindergarten I was worried about how she would do. My worries were quickly put to rest.

At St. Mary's I did not only find teachers and staff but I found family. In the last eight years my daughter Naledi came out of her shell and excelled academically. Today she is a strong, kind, well adjusted, smart young lady. I am honoured that she calls me 'Mom'. I think this was achieved through hard work and dedication of the teachers, staff, principal, the parents support group, students and parents of St. Mary's. The recent play of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' proved how dedicated everyone at St. Mary's is.

Thank you Mr. A. for your leadership and thank you Mrs. Boyes for always lending me your ear and kind words. I am so thankful to have known all of you.

As Naledi prepares herself for high school, I am not as anxious as I know she will do well because St. Mary's has laid a good foundation for her education. Your support and kindness is immeasurable.

On behalf of Naledi and I and our whole family in Johannesburg, South Africa. I say thank you for eight memorable years, St. Mary's.
