Sauce for the goose

Saving on snow budget? This is a vital service to a city in the North. As I remember, Mayor Rogers was standing on a platform built on "better roads" for our city. This is a quote taken directly from the mayor's website: http://danrogers.

Saving on snow budget? This is a vital service to a city in the North. As I remember, Mayor Rogers was standing on a platform built on "better roads" for our city. This is a quote taken directly from the mayor's website:

http://danrogers.ca/vision-and-priorities/

"There's a clear demand for better roads so let's get on with it. The city needs to be better in responding to concerns as basic as potholes. Improving our roads and sidewalks is a fundamental responsibility of local government. That's why it must be a priority and will be under Dan's leadership. Creating better roads also ties in with the need to look at our transportation network as a whole."

There were some nice words and ideas in there, such as "fundamental responsibility, priority, and improving." Mayor Rogers was elected on these beliefs as they resonate with city residents. Changing our snow clearing practices is not an option, it only creates a dangerous situation. There has to be better places to make cuts. Like turning off the city street lights at 7:30 instead of 8 a.m. when the sun is already up. Perhaps green vehicles for city staff, to save on fuel costs. It will save money, and the environment in the long run. No use in trying to reinvent the wobbly wheel, leave well enough alone.
