RV service needed

Well, I agree with both Neil Godbout and Bill McFarlin about RVs, but more needs to be said. There are really two issues we should be addressiing - how local, taxpaying RVers are treated and how stupid we are about how we treat out-of-towners.

Well, I agree with both Neil Godbout and Bill McFarlin about RVs, but more needs to be said.

There are really two issues we should be addressiing - how local, taxpaying RVers are treated and how stupid we are about how we treat out-of-towners. We had a a fantastic sani-dump at the 18th Avenue transfer station. It was closed because local businesses were offering the same service and the city should not compete with them.

Of course, no local business offered the same quality of service that the city had. There is no sani-station to the east, a hole in the ground and a garden hose to the north and west and the best one to the south at the Super Save Gas, though it is still a sad reflection of the city's station.

So how could local RV parks compete with the dream set-up that Neil proposes? They need to do three things:

1) Advertise. They should have Burma Shave type signs on every approach to the city;

2) They need to offer attractions that are not available at the dream park such as swimming pools, skate board parks, nature trails, mini-golf, shuttle bus service to shopping, etc.;

3) Offer promotions such as "Never stayed at our park before? First night is free!".

Finally, stop treating local RVers who want to dump their tanks at your private park like vermin who have to be discouraged. Charge $10 if all they will do is use your sani-station and offer it for free if they will take pictures and post a complimentary post to the internet.
